NBA 2K19 - How good is MyGM and why all the 2k hate

I notice a ton of hate in this sub but imo the depth of franchise mode (myGM and myLeague) more than makes up for micro transactions in other game modes.

As a madden player I consider 2k to be the model for a franchise mode in a sports video game. Am I wrong and madden is just so bad that it makes 2k look good? Or are the complaints here not about the franchise mode?

I don't play 2k very often which is why I'm asking since I'm a much bigger football fan than basketball fan, but when I play 2k I dream about a potential 2k NFL game.

But then I read this sub and I'm shocked to see people saying 2k is a horrible company that NBA shouldnt trust the license with. Of course you all know more than me about this so tell me your thoughts.

The complaints are all because of the nickel and diming and how 2K has forgone quality and fun gameplay for the sake of making more money and people are sick of it.

Compare 2K19 to the basketball games of the past and mt 2k19 look at what features have gone away because there's no way to monetize them.

Remember when you didn't have archetypes and you could just spend experience points (instead of virtual currency that can be bought with money) on whatever you wanted and could max all your stats?

They lowered the ability to have fun in your career mode which should be a single player mode and introduced ways for you to pay money to improve your character who is still shittier than they were in games prior.

Madden and 2K are both monetized garbage now and keep recycling the same stuff to the player base. IMO the best sports game franchise right now in The Show.

Every year more features are added, your single player and multiplayer modes are kept completely separate and there's no microtransactions anywhere near single player.

NHL is also good in this regard but don't bring out as many new features every year.

If game companies are able to put more money than 2K into creating games and still don't put in the predatory microtransactions in their game it should tell you something about where 2K's priorities are.

It's not hard or expensive to make a yearly sports game once youve got the skeleton. Games like God of War, Spider-Man, RDR2, etc. came out this year and cost more money and were more consumer friendly.
